see relatedWhat does being independent mean to you?
I saw this featured question on the homepage and I thought this would be a good way to start my blog since I'm leaving for college tomorrow hehe. Anyways, for me being independent can mean a lot of things..like:
- standing up for yourself
- living on your own
- making your own decisions
- choosing your own path in life
- being yourself
- loving and accepting yourself
- not buying things just because they're "in"
- doing stuff without needing anybody's help
- knowing the consequences of your actions
- not needing anyone to make yourself happy
These are things I hope to learn/continue in college. My dad's always telling me I'm too dependent. I guess he's right. I'm always relying on people. I think this is because I had a nanny to take care of me and do things for me since I was born until I was 12 years old. Also, I'm an only child so my parents tend to spoil me. I really hope being away from home can help me become independent. I know my parents (especially my dad) will be very proud of me. They wouldn't keep asking me "What will happen once we're gone?" again and again.
I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

Aye, being "independent" would definetely include living on your own - at least, for me. Paying the bills with money you earn yourself from a job that you found on your own, and all that..
