  • Highlights of the week!! were volunteering to recruit blood donors for the american red cross, concert under the stars and what happened after that (which I cannot say on here because I'm too cool like that. haha. but seriously I thought I would never do it but I did..'cause now it's not that bad I think..but I still can't say what it was I did hahaha), and then volunteering today at a soup kitchen. Yes, I do love volunteering. It feels good helping other people.

  • What is the next "big step" in your life?

The next "big step" in my life is probably getting involved in school. Back in high school, I didn't do much except medical club. I wanted to join pageantry but my dad thought the uniform was too expensive. Key club had their meetings at the same day and time as medical club so I couldn't do it. blah blah blah. I know I missed out on a lot of stuff so now I want to be more involved in school. I "rushed" on wednesday for Tau Theta Pi. Those girls are really nice and friendly. We had a cupcake decorating contest and I won best ladybug (the sorority's symbol). To be honest, I wasn't planning on rushing..at least not my first year 'cause I was already planning on joining 4 clubs: PASA, NSA, EAC, and racquetball. So far I've only signed up for NSA and PASA. NSA is THE club I really wanted to join but I have a class when they have their meetings! For PASA, I'm going to their dance workshops and if the steps aren't too hard, then I might audition for their dance team HAHA I've never even really danced though. I've been playing racquetball with friends at the Rec Center to "prepare" for racquetball club. I used to play in junior high after school with friends but I still suck at it. Hopefully the club will still let me join..I want to play better. Also today, me and my roommate Christine went to watch the soccer game. Our school lost to UNLV though. 0-1.

What does being independent mean to you?

I saw this featured question on the homepage and I thought this would be a good way to start my blog since I'm leaving for college tomorrow hehe. Anyways, for me being independent can mean a lot of things..like:

    • standing up for yourself
    • living on your own
    • making your own decisions
    • choosing your own path in life
    • being yourself
    • loving and accepting yourself
    • not buying things just because they're "in"
    • doing stuff without needing anybody's help
    • knowing the consequences of your actions
    • not needing anyone to make yourself happy

These are things I hope to learn/continue in college. My dad's always telling me I'm too dependent. I guess he's right. I'm always relying on people. I think this is because I had a nanny to take care of me and do things for me since I was born until I was 12 years old. Also, I'm an only child so my parents tend to spoil me. I really hope being away from home can help me become independent. I know my parents (especially my dad) will be very proud of me. They wouldn't keep asking me "What will happen once we're gone?" again and again.
